Scribble #3

As I said in my last post, I finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns." Its good. It has all the ingredients, but the taste, of its predecessor - "The Kite Runner." Kite Runner was even more riveting. In addition, I happened to read "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga and also "Train to Pakistan" by Khushwant Singh.

White Tiger was fantastic. Train to Pakistan was written originally in 1956 it seems. I got hold of a hardback republished in 2006. Maybe it might have felt good if one had read it four decades before, but not now of course.

Actually, how I got interested in this novel, "Train to Pakistan," is a nice big story. I saw this movie, 1947 Earth, starring Amir Khan and Nandita Das, released in late 1990's; the movie was fantastic. Then somewhere I learnt that it was fully based on another novel named "Cracking India" AKA "Ice Candy Man" which was published in 1991, and also learnt that there was another similar novel based on Partition of India, named "a boring Train to Pakistan" or "Train to Pakistan."

I browsed for both of them in the Old Books Market in my city, but came home only doing the stupid hasty thing of buying a hardback edition of TTP spending 295 rupees.

OKAY.....did anything interesting happen in the last 30 days...?????? err........NO.

BYE BYE.....meet you soon....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
